On Saturday 11th June we held our second club tournament at Coombe Wood. The weather was kind to us and we had a fantastic atmosphere as around 150 players, aged 7 through to 50plus, played versatility netball. It was amazing to see how many fantastic shooters we have, even if they had never shot before.
It was great to see so many families enjoying watching their daughters play and so many husbands and children cheering their Mums on.
We have received an overwhelming number of messages thanking us for the day and, although I said I am not organising it next year, I’m sure I will. One of the messages which I have loved receiving the most was from a Mum who has said that, as a result of watching her daughter yesterday, she would like to join our Back to Netball session. We, of course, have invited her to attend this week’s session and would like to extend this to any other Roundwood Mum’s who would like to give the session a try (Thursday 8 – 9.30pm).
The day was filled with lots of laughter and a display of some fantastic netball by all age groups. The event has raised £990 (minus court costs) which will be put towards our 21st Anniversary Party on Saturday 2nd July. The deadline for ticket purchases is Friday 17th June, so get in quick if you haven’t got yours yet. All our annual awards will be presented at this event for all age groups.
