On Sunday 20th March 2022 the Croydon junior netball league resumed, having stopped due to Covid. There were 50 teams playing across 3 age groups throughout the day.

Roundwood was represented by 97 girls, in 12 teams, spanning all 3 age groups. At one point in the day 5 of the 6 courts at Shirley High School had a Roundwood team playing on it. We were definitely a purple army and it was such a great sight to see.

These were the first junior matches for many of the players and they all played fantastically. The longer standing members had been part of this experience prior to the Covid break, but enjoyed the opportunity to play competitively again.

We had a mixed bag of results with some outstanding wins, a few draws and a few losses but the coaches watched on with pride and everyone took away lots to work on over the coming weeks at training. There were lots of parents supporting their daughters and our thanks to James, Katie, Zainab and Rachel who managed the teams and this enabled more players to play.

Thank you for supporting the cake sale which raised £140 towards our anniversary celebrations (tickets are on sale from 1st April 2022).

The next junior matches are on Sunday 8th May.
